Fanbeam® Reflective targets

Techmak produces a range of reflective targets designed specifically for use with the Techmak Fanbeam system. The targets come in various configurations, each with individual performance specifications.

In order to obtain optimal system performance, it is key that these specifications are considered by both vessel and offshore installation operators from a DP operations, safety, and awareness perspective.

Fanbeam® Reflective targets

Techmak recommends the use of Prismatic Cluster Targets with the Fanbeam for optimal performance. Stronger signal return makes differentiation from noise much easier and tracking more reliable.

Max range (typical) = 1.5km – 2km.

All prism clusters are supplied with a Prism Tree Mounting Bracket as standard.

Fanbeam Tube Targets

These entry level targets are good for general short-range use where the Fanbeam is only required as a position reference in close range of the installation.

They consist of diamond grade reflective tape wrapped in a vertical orientation on 1m long aluminium tubes for optimal range performance.

1-ton shackles at both ends of the tube allow for deployment by crane and for simple attachment to a handrail or other structure on the side of an offshore installation.

These target types do require regular maintenance in order to ensure salt deposits do not build up which can damage the reflective properties of the target.
